When Behaviour Stumps You...be Trauma Informed

Wild tantrums, clinginess, and an inability to easily form attachments with adults are amoung the range of reactions children show when they have experienced Complex Trauma. We will help you understand how what has happened to children influences their ability to cope with stress. How we respond to this behaviour can influence whether these children become resilient enough to move beyond what has happened to them. We will present a set of activities that help build relationships and resilience.

UDL and Differentiated Instruction

UDL & Differentiated Instruction

We have many special needs and diverse learners integrated into our regular education streams. We also have students with varying needs in our special education classrooms. Though we have excellent, skilled and caring administrators, teachers, resource teachers, special education techs, attendants, professionals, and consultants, due to provincial budgetary issues, we know that there are limited resources and increasing demands. Approaches such as UDL, Differentiation, and response to intervention modify the environment, which can allow special needs and diverse learners to make positive progress and access learning at learning at their level even in situations with limited staffing. In this workshop, we will learn about the principles behind UDL, RTI and Differentiation, as well as some strategies for implementing these strategies into our classrooms.
